Despite what you might think, the Isle of Wight Garlic festival promises a great day out for lovers and loathers of garlic.  Recently described as one of Britain’s best food festivals by The Times, the festival is a celebration of all things garlic – a consequence of the Isle of Wight’s status as UK’s leading garlic growing region. Besides the obvious, visitors can try a wide range of local produce, including delicious local meats and just-picked fruit. But for those with adventurous taste buds, there’s also garlic beer, garlic fudge and garlic ice cream. With great restaurants serving fresh local produce, specialist delis and bakeries, and one of Britain’s best food festivals, there’s plenty on the Isle of Wight for foodie visitors who are looking for something a little bit more upmarket than the usual seaside fare.
