This rumor is partly fueled by court cases that were lost in the 1990s by Dow Chemical and several other breast implant manufacturers that use silicon in their implants. Those implants caused many serious side effects when they leaked or ruptured. Most breast implants in New York are made from a safe saline solution. These implants cause none of the severe side effects of silicon implants when something goes wrong with them.
