Most people have never heard of storing non hybrid vegetable seeds as part of their disaster preparedness kit. Having seeds on hand in case of a major disaster is a good idea. A major food shortage could happen within days of a major event and grocery stores only keep a few days of food on hand. While it takes months to grow a garden, having enough dried goods and canned food on hand to ration until a garden produces food could be a life saver. A well prepared survival seed bank should not cost more than $150.00 and should be properly packaged for long term storage.
