What is a dry socket?

During the post operative phase of a tooth extraction due to many reasons there may be a loss of blood clot.This loss of blood clot can expose the tooth bone and nerve endings to food, air and water. This can be very painful and further this condition can lead to bone inflammation and infections of the socket too.Thus the dry socket delays the tooth healing process and causes a lot of discomfort in tooth extracted patients.
