As a social worker, it is my job to help patients and their family members in their time of need. My focus is patients who are in need of mental health and psychiatric treatment, and it is very rewarding to see them get the help they need as they learn how to cope with their illness. I have seen many patients newly diagnosed with catatonic schizophrenia and to watch them as they improve under the right treatment plan is inspiring. My case load is full of patients who have done very well with medication and therapy, and it’s wonderful to see them being offered some hope.
