My husband and I have long talked about the idea of getting a larger house and we have actually done quite a bit of house hunting in the last few months. It seemed that each house we saw, we compared to our current home and the more we looked at other houses, the more we really wanted to stay right where we already are. We decided to remodel the lower level of the house to expand our space and we calculated the finish basement cost drywall and all. It turned out to be a pretty reasonable way for us to upgrade our living space.

I tend to do lots of baking whenever I have the time. I’d have no issue working as a baker because it’d mean I’d get to do what I enjoy best! My son has decided that he wants to pursue a career in environmental science. We should have known this was coming. He has always taken things around our house and modified them to make them friendly to the earth. One day my husband and I came home to find this contraption in our front yard. Timmy had decided that we needed to install rainwater tanks to save the water supply. We didn’t have a problem with this until he decided we should drink it. After explaining to him that it may not be healthy, he took the initiative to contact the health department and see what could be done to make the water potable. He kept the poor man on the phone for hours. Now he can have kids doing the same to him. He’ll love it.

My son is playing soccer again this spring and when he plays at the YMCA, they don’t provide them with kids shorts, only with the jersey. So, I’ve got to find some black shiny shorts for him to wear in the games. He’s out grown the pairs he’s worn in previous years. It’s odd to me that they don’t provide them as the Recreation Department obviously does for their players. They have matching shorts, not contrasting ones. Oh well, I’m sure we pay a lot less in fees for him to play than they pay over at the Rec department anyway.

My kids had been asking us to get a dog for years, and last year we finally relented. We chose our dog based on his breed and temperament, and we knew that he would need some guidance if he was going to fit into our busy household. We signed up for a Dog Obedience Training class, and even the kids were welcome to attend. Our entire family learned some basic commands that were essential, and the trainer was very patient and effective. After only a month of classes, he was doing very well, and even the trainer said that she was impressed with his progress. Our dog is the best!

I am so thankful for the animal hospital that we have in town. Last week, my kitten ate one of my prescription medication tablets that I had dropped. I was so worried about her, so I immediately took her to the hospital. They got her in right away and were able to get the medication out of her system before any permanent damage was done to her. If it hadn’t been for the hospital being so close, she may not have survived. I think that every town should have a hospital for animals because you never know what is going to happen.
